The following video was submitted by Doris Girgis of Coptic Orphans’ Valuable Girl Project. The Valuable Girl Project began as an initiative to help Muslim and Coptic girls from impoverished areas stay in school through mentorships with older girls, who receive stipends to help tutor their young counterparts in reading, writing, and math.

Though it began as an education initiative, the project quickly took on another role-helping build bridges between Egypt’s increasingly estranged Muslim and Coptic communities through the partnerships built by girls in education.
